No worries, Jason. Todd's good. I still look forward to his technical posts as I always have.

But I would like to know his speculations as to why someone would continue to complain when they don't believe it will do any good. That one has me baffled.

ETA: btw, I am not referring to the warranty debacle in this thread at all. that is a cluster for sure. hopefully the reports of change in Minelab's repair center policy are true and will happen quickly. ML, I think the point we are discussing is updates or the lack thereof.

Part of my issues this week is the snow that is still preventing me from detecting. It melts and I'm done posting grumpy threads. Be well

I find most areas have been heavily hunted, for me it is working the signal listening for the occasional high tone that sounds suspicious, you will dig nails, but, you will also dig silver. I have an etrac and I don't find the silvers as well as I do with my CTX. Keep swinging, keep digging, the silvers will show up when you least expect them in places you may not think they are.

....There are a lot of people here that need to detect more internet less and finally move out of their moms basements.

Man, I am 100% on board with that one. Instead of sitting in front of a keyboard and wishing someone would give them a better machine, the snowflakes would do a LOT better if they got out and used the thing instead of spending so much time complaining on the web. Well said, Todd!

Since I started way back in the (shudder) disco era, I have chosen my machines based on what they will do for me NOW; not on some nebulous Maybe of what they might do in the future. I feel sad for the folks that want the magical machine handed to them without putting in the work.

People who complain about Minelab not updating their machine aren't snowflakes. They're actually voicing their concerns on a public forum to Minelab.

I think the snowflakes are the ones who melt down when someone criticizes a precious minelab.

I think it's pathetic when you're willing to stand by a company who doesn't stand by their products, so loyal to them you act like you're on their payroll.

Try this sometime if you have a good spot that quit producing go during a power outage and see what happens .sube

I have a number of spot I just WISH I could hit during a power outage. Unfortunately those always seem to happen during horrible weather and never last very long.

Wow Sube, I was looking for the 'like button' on that response, lol! Last outing I noticed quite a difference between manual and auto. Too early to say my results were better, but the machine definitely was hotter.

Thanks for posting the charts. I'm just getting started with the CTX and thought Auto+3 would get the maximum depth!

As many people have started to purchase the Anderson Travel shaft there seems to be a little bit of a learning curve for some with how to put it together. Here is a video that will help with that

replacment battery for WM10

I did some searches for a replacment battery for the wireless. Seems there are lot of them that are close but the physical sizes are either two large with the same 3.7v Lipo 1000mah or too small mAH. Does anyone have a direct replacment battery anywhere that can be bought? I have two WM10's and swapped the battery from the new one into the old bad one and it worked great, just need to get a new battery now for the old WM10. I talked/email with Minelab Service, Jamie, and she says they dont 'sell' the battery (replacment parts, etc., ) but she is checking on a way to assist me. Very helpful I would add and I really, really, appreciate her assistance.

Battery is 2" long, 1 5/8 wide, and 5/16 thick with a rubber pad on it. Says MINMAX 0303-0036 Part No.:01.51.527 LIPO63448 3.7V 1000mAH and a date of 2011-10-08

Any help or a site link is appreciated.

I can sure understand that. Hang in there, shouldn't be too much longer with April just around the corner.

too small mAh is only a problem if you will run it down with a long hunt.
if you cant find an exact replacement, I'd go with the one that fits physically and live with a little less time (how much diff is there in the mAh's?).

There was a thread about replacement batteries a few years ago search in the CTX forum and you should find it.

or this off Ebey.
Just type the following in a search and you should see the link:

Replacement Battery 1600mAh 3.7_Volts For ZIPIT Zipit Z2, Wireless Messenger Z2.

Ask the seller for dimensions.
It might fit and given it's got 1600mAh should be an even better alternative.

Be more than a little suspicious of chinese battery ratings...I've seen more fiction printed on lithium batteries from China than found in most bookstores. ;)

(I get about a 1 honest to 10 bogus ratio when I measure different amazon/ebay chinese LiPO capacities.)

In digging into those suggested above they are all 3" or more longer and most are 2" wide and more thick than the wm10 can handle. The ones that will actually fit inside are smaller mAh, like 300, 350, and 600. Even the 800 and 850 mAh ones are too long most of the time. It has to be 2" or less long, 1 5/8" or less wide and less than 5/16" thick.

The old postings on here only suggest similar searchs but after aboput 10 hours of searching out 3.7v batteries and Ah ratings, I finally sent an email to MINMAX southern area in Lewisville Texas for help[. They built it so maybe they can help without paying 10 times the barttery cost to get it replaced. Got another email from Minelab service and she may have a solution for me. She is a super Minelab Customer Service asset!

It is really as simple thing, take out 4 screws, lift the cover, pull the battery connector out and put a new on in, put cover back on and screw it down. Too bad there it is such a difficult size. Tons of RC Quad Copter and other model stuff out there but just not physically the small enogugh size. I just had a brain wave, it dont have to fit inside the box! It could be connected and attached outside the box, maybe wrapped and insulated. I always carry it around my neck inside a plastic waterproof wallet/document carrier anyway. Would look a bit Southern Engineered but better than tossing a $250 wireless or paying a ton to get it replaced.

Thanks For the assistance.

https://youtu.be/sfLYK56epLE watch this video with the gold ring and nail if it can see the ring under a nail I don't think it will have a problem with iron next to the ring . I don't water hunt but it seems that low conductors in iron are not a problem for it.
Your not going to get your bin tone for the ring but you will get your iron tone . If your able to look at the screen when hearing the iron such as shallow water you may see something like this . sube

WM10 battery issue

I previously posted about my old, 2012 model WM10 with the battery gone bad. Cannot find one of the correct physical size, so asked for help from Minelab Service! Guess what? They are sending me another WM-10!!! UPS Ground and will be here the 28th. Now that is going above and beyond! Seems they had a used one that had been returned with a CTX for whatever reason, so they have no use for it and are sending it to me! She says it works perfectly!

Chalk one up for the good guys at Minelab! Thanks you Jamie!!
